individual therapy

At eau, we work collaboratively with each client as we move through the following steps:

Understand Distress (Initial Sessions)

We take time to understand your distress. We stay curious about where it may be stemming from, including past events.

Goals & Planning (Initial Sessions)

We set a plan of treatment, including goals for therapy, and work towards them. This may change along the way, and we'll notify you as it changes.

Treatment

We gradually confront the distress in a safe way, using a combination of talk therapy and holistic strategies, all through a trauma-informed lens. Our general goal is to support each client with building safety, autonomy, functionality, resilience and growth back into their lives.

We utilize various modalities when offering psychotherapy and tailor them to the needs of each client. All modalities are delivered within the frame of trauma-informed care.

The modalities we use include:

  • Emotion-Focussed Therapy & Attachment Theory
  • Internal Family Systems Therapy
  • Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Existential Psychotherapy
  • Islamic Psychotherapy

Working within the frame of trauma-informed care means we work in a safe way to:

  • stay vigilant to the possibility of trauma and it's impacts on the individual
  • educate the client on trauma and give them tools to work through it
  • offer therapy that keeps the individual safe while helping them to heal the trauma

All of our work is informed by Islamic values, and if the client would like, we can include Islamic counselling in the therapy sessions.

our history

Eau is an outgrowth of Asma Ali's career in psychotherapy.

Before Eau, she founded Concentric Care, a private practice where she saw individuals, families and couples since 2015.

In her time as Director of Concentric Care, Asma also started Maristan, a retreat centre, in 2017 in Granada, Spain. Maristan is an ongoing project and you can read more here.

In 2022, Asma closed Concentric Care and opened Eau, which delivers trauma-informed psychotherapy. Asma believes that trauma-informed psychotherapy is an evidence-based, effective way to understand individuals, including the root causes of their suffering, and empower them to heal holistically in a lasting way. Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy can be integrated with many psychotherapeutic modalities.

In addition to serving individuals seeking healing, Eau is a lab for therapists to better understand trauma and become trauma-focussed specialists.
